So I guess this is what you might define as a sort of progress; I am now living on my own again. Well, flatsharing with a friend since childhood, so I’m not all alone – not still occupying my parents’ house though. I’ve now joined the ranks of those who can proudly state; "When I was 29 I sure weren’t living in my parents’ house still – I moved out the day before!"
So yeah, we spent the whole day moving yesteray, Edmund and me. Edmund is my new flatmate, who is also a mate since childhood (we used to play with wooden Brio trains together at 6 or something) and a coworker since many years back by now. Thick as thieves, you might say, although we are actually quite friendly and very, very nice people. So anyway we were at the flat at around 1pm and got the keys and unloaded the first haul of stuff. We actually picked up Edmunds new bed from Ikea the night before and dropped it off at the flat, so by now we both had beds and such in place. I picked the smallest bedroom, it just barely fits my bed, my desk, my drawer and my chair – and that’s about what I need, really. I’ll need to figure out what to do about my guitars, maybe they should hang on the wall or sth… We’ll see. Edmunds room is a little bigger, so he can fit a bigger bed, a bigger desk, and actually the exact same chair! (Well… the same model chair anyway). Back we went for another haul. And another. By about 1am this morning we were back the final time, and then I had to figure out how to use the mobile broadband thingie on my laptop running Windows Vista 64 bit. In the end, I borrowed my flatmates’ cell and managed to get online and download a new driver for the usb modem, and voila! I was online and could say good night to my beloved fiancée before going to bed.
This morning I woke up at around 10am, read some online news on my iPhone and then headed to shower. Breakfast was taken standing up, and we decided that we needed to visit Ikea to get some sorely needed items like drinking glasses, a small table and some chairs, plates and the likes. We headed over to the mall, which for some mysterious reason seemed to explode with cars and people. The queue going into the mall from the opposite direction of ours was crazy!! Luckily, few people seemed to come from our end so we manage to squeeze in pretty fast, the traffic concidered. We stopped by the store and said hi to the guy at work, then headed over to Gamestop carrying my entire DVD collection in two shopping carts. More than two hours later, I could happily walk out of the store with almost 7 grand in my pocket, enough to cover my share of the deposit for the flat and some money for Ikea shopping, food and such. I handed my depost money over to my flatmate, so he can handle the deposit stuff with the landlord over the weekend. After that we went to the chinese restaurant for lunch (where they tried to hook E up with this beautiful chinese girl they knew who just moved into town for studies *grin*) and then picked up some beer for tonight before going back to Ikea. We actually tried the Ikea restaurant before going to the chinese one, but the queue was just so frigging crazy we decied it would be quicker to go back to the mall and get our meal there – and a lot better, I might add!
We ended up with a starter kit with plates, glasses, mugs, spoons, knives and forks, some extra glasses, a table and four chairs (by the name of Jokkmokk, which sounds really funny!), and some other thingamajigs. Then we went and picked up some food for tonight. On the way we stopped by the store, and I popped by the neighbouring store which sells RC cars, miniatures etc – they had a one day offer of 50% discount on almost all the stuff they have, so I treated myself to a new car, a Lamborghini Countach, the car of my dreams. Of course, it rides on battery power and is in a 1:10 scale, so it isn’t quite the real thing. It’s a start though.
And it’ll let me say "I got my first Lamborghini the day I turned 29".
