Paul Wicking, author of this website

The blog you are reading is created, designed and maintained by a guy called Paul Wicking. Or me, if you like. Residing in what was described as follows in the original first printing of Encyclopædia Britannica;

“NORWAY, a kingdom of Europe, situated between 4 and 30 east longitude, and between 58 and 72 north latitude, bounded by the Atlantic ocean on the North and West, by Swedish Lapland and other provinces of Sweden on the east, and by the sea called the Categate and Schaggeric on the South. It is a cold, barren country, subject to Denmark.”

Since this was published somewhere in the years 1768 through 1771, Norway has become its own kingdom. It is still cold and barren.

I am born in the Year of the Monkey according to the Chinese, or 1980 as you would say if you follow the Gregorian calendar like large parts of the rest of the World do. I have a passion for literature and movies, specifically within the science fiction and fantasy genre – although I do read the occasional spy story and usually feel quite passionate about my reading then as well.

I am also a very big fan of music, and I have spent incredible amounts of resources on music the latter years. With my best friend I built a massive international website called Maiden Norway, dedicated to Heavy Metal legends Iron Maiden. During the years 2006-2008 we were probably the biggest unofficial Iron Maiden website out there. Due to me becoming ill, it became to heavy a workload for my friend to keep the site running, and as a result we had to shut the site down. All of this has presented me with opportunities to travel quite a lot the last couple of years, all over Norway, to England and to the continental Europe.

I play the guitar in a couple of bands; Too Close For Distance, an alternative rock kind of band, and a yet-to-be-named metal band which will totally rock your socks off.

I used to work at an electronics store in Åsane, a suburb to Bergen. I’ve worked in different stores throughout the years, and also been into other kinds of work, always returning to being in a store for some reason – I do love it when it is busy and I’m not crazy about it when it is slow, it is a nice way to earn a living though, you get to meet tons of people and I’ve been blessed with really nice coworkers.

I am now a student at the Bergen University, doing my bachelor in Development Studies, and am also in the process of getting my Certificate of Craftmansship. My plan is to get a Bachelors degree here in Norway, and then studying for a Masters degree abroad.

This weblog was created on June 18th 2008. The main focus will be music, lyrics, texts, thoughts and ideas. I expect my readers to consist of close friends and absolute strangers. I’ll post updates somewhere between every day and every week, time permitting. The reason I’m doing this is to gather everything in one place for myself.
